Day 3 was less exciting than day 2 but it’s still a fulfilling one 🙂
Wat Pho and Wat Arun
Before I truly explore Bangkok, I’ve been to Thailand countless of times, visited many temples. Hence, when I saw all blogs listed the must-see Wats (temples in Thai), I felt very turn off. My original plan didn’t include visiting Wat. I wanted to go Kanchanaburi for Death Railway or Ayutthaya. We later found out from the locals that it’s best to spend a few days at these 2 places. That’s how we decided to just visit Temples.
When I saw the temples, I felt so amazed! THEY ARE SO BEAUTIFUL! Pictures can’t translate the wonders and beauty of the Wats! Sadly I only went to Wat Pho and Wat Arun because I thought the Emerald Green Temple was closed for the state funeral. More reason to visit Bangkok again!
If you are in a rush, I would recommend Wat Pho over Wat Arun. These 2 temples are just a short boat ride apart (4baht). Emerald Green Temples are beautiful at night I swear! Good to have wide angle lens so you can stand near and exclude the elephant statue.
Hunt for Film Developing Shops
Yes, my mission as FilmBasedTraveler is to hunt for shops that still develop films. Because I enjoy film photography so much I hope I still have places to develop my photos! It was a fulfilling hunt and I will blog about the details in another post.
Stay tuned fellow Filmmie! (ok, new word from me?)
Kao San Road
We spent the night walking along Kao San Road. From Saphan Taksin BTS area, it’s not easy to find taxi or Tuktuk that was willing to take us. As I’ve mentioned, taxis are VERY picky, they refused to take us due to jam. Tuktuks love conning people. Boat taxi has ended their last shift, BTS will take longer. In the end we took public bus (Bus 15 from Saphan Taksin to Kao San). I love it! The bus is so vintage and super spacious. Along the way, there was no jam (8pm).
So much hassle to get to Kao San but spent less than 15 mins there as it was not our liking -.- Too noisy because of the bars. And we don’t buy any touristy merchandise. We took taxi back and the driver actually made a big round, purposely brought us to the wrong place and said we didn’t state clearly. Our fare was 99Baht. It’s the dishonesty that is saddening.Â
With that, we ended our full 3 days 3 nights in Bangkok (up on the 5 days 4 nights). I love Thailand in general and will definitely be back again!
Oh wow. It is hard to even buy film these days!
haha true! That’s why I have to hunt! 🙂
