For the past few days, I have been thinking about which camera(s) to bring and use over the 3-4 days of Chinese New Year (CNY) celebration. My father is from Penang, Malaysia, so the whole family will go back during this season to visit granny and relatives. Since I have grown fonder of documenting my life and people around me, of course I must bring my camera! Actually, iPhone will do right? But I like film leh. It’s my choice.
The problem, as I mentioned, is which camera to bring? I have to take many factors into consideration. For example, the environment is mainly indoor, so I know film camera without flash, images just suck. So, Nikon FM 2 and Rollei B35 are out, left with Contax TVS and Lomography La Sardina. Instax camera is also out because I don’t want to bring so many Instax Mini films. Furthermore, elderly has difficulty seeing the small-sized image by Instax Mini :/ (long-sighted)
Talking about flash, I find it quite irritating whenever I took my friends’ picture with flash on, the first thing they always say is ‘omg my eyes.’ Sigh. Come on, it’s an honour to be on film. Hahaha! Alright, I know, it’s human nature. So, I guess I might get lots of that over CNY. Well, suck it up.
Next, I want to include humans with background instead of just portrait kind of photo. So, 50mm lens doesn’t seem to be a good choice. Nikon FM 2 is out because I only have 50mm lens. Again, Contax TVS and La Sardina are the choices.
In conclusion, Contax TVS or La Sardina seem to be the better choice. Both have wide angle lens and flash. Easy to use, just turn on and snap. What I worry is the non-guaranteed auto-focusing for Contax TVS and the image quality of La Sardina.
This makes me realised that the more cameras I have, the more troubles there are. Imagine if I only have one camera, I will make do with it. Of course I know if I really only have one camera, I will complain a lot, too. Haha…
So, it all goes down to the heart, whether one is contented or not. Also, a contented heart will make use of all resources to favour and improve the situation.
What that, I wish all who celebrate CNY a Prosperous Rooster Year ahead! Huat ah!
